This is great. I made an in dash setup for my truck with igps360 as part of the setup. Long story short, this worked great until I upgraded to ios5. Now I cannot get the igps360 driver to install. It makes iPad freeze on restart.
Is there any plan to update the driver to be iOS compatible?

The unit works fine with both an iPod touch and iPad running iOS5. Please note that there is currently only a tethered jailbreak for iOS5 available, so when you reboot your device, it will hang unless you "boot tethered" with RedSn0w. So GPSSerial is not making your device hang. You need to reboot your device while connected to a computer until an untethered jailbreak comes out.
